    Steve Reich and the Pulitzer

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103304036&ft=1&f=1039

There’s been quite a lot of buzz about Steve Reich winning the Pulitzer prize for his Double Sextet. From the extract on NPR it sounds like an interesting work. It’s also good to see Eight Blackbird who commissioned and performed the work share in the success. They’re a super group and I really like their recording of Frederic Rzewski’s works. I wonder how long it will take before a commercial recording is issued? Hopefully not too long…

Interestingly both Eight Blackbird and Steve Reich are on twitter, though I wonder if Reich is actually Reich himself and not an impersonator. Would he really write something like this? Somehow I wonder but maybe I’m wrong…
